broccolisoup: occupyallstreets: “I was screaming, ‘I am pregnant, I am pregnant. Let me through. I am trying to get out.’” At that point, Fox continues, a Seattle police officer lifted his foot and it hit her in the stomach, and another officer pushed his bicycle into the crowd, again hitting Fox in the stomach.  Source What the fuck is wrong with people.

Denying Racism
Me: Gone with the Wind? Such a racist film.
Step Dad: It's not racist, how is it racist?
Me: It just is, look at that - the black man chasing the white woman. Classic stereotype
Step Dad: That's just how it was back then.
Me: Okay, look at that woman, the mammy. Another stereotype.
Mom: That's her character, she's a mammy. Do you know when this movie was made?
Me: Yes, it doesn't mean it isn't racist.
Step Dad: That's just how things were, it wasn't called a stereotype back then.
Me: Trust me, it's racist. Blacks couldn't play any other roles besides these certain stereotypes. Mammies, Uncle Toms, coons...
Step Dad: What roles!? There was no TV's!
Me: Oh. My. God.

mitchmitchelson: a fun game: before you say anything, start with, “not to be racist but” and watch people try to figure out what part of what you just said was racist.

I’m going to my (step) grandmother’s Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and I’m really not looking forward to it. Hearing ultra-conservative rants about gays, Obamacare, church attendance, and Occupy Wall Street. I’m not quiet. I’m respectful, but I’m not quiet. Let the inevitable arguments commence.

My day went bad in the weirdest way.
I stayed overnight at CSUF to protest the tuition hikes. Got up at 7 am to pack up the tent and rush home to get ready for work. Then, a customer comes in and tells me my tire is flat. I take my break to go to the gas station to fill it up where someone already there offered to do it for me. The tire is really old and has a nail in it, so it finally popped while he was filling it. I waited there...
